Who We Are

LiftEdge is led by Mike, the founder and lead assessor, bringing over 30 years of hands‑on operational experience with forklifts, plant, and materials‑handling equipment in safety‑critical environments. His background spans warehouses, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, distribution, and container‑handling operations, giving him a practical understanding of the real‑world challenges operators face every day.

As a qualified assessor and RTITB Registered Instructor, Mike focuses on practical competence, clear communication, and raising workplace safety standards. His approach is built on a simple belief: competence — not just certification — creates safer, more confident operators and stronger workplaces.

Experience That Matters

Mike’s career has been spent in environments where materials‑handling equipment is central to daily operations. He has operated, supervised, and assessed a wide range of machinery, giving him a realistic understanding of how operators work, the pressures they face, and the risks that matter on the ground.

His operational experience includes:

  • counterbalance forklifts

  • reach trucks

  • order pickers

  • electric pallet trucks

  • telehandlers

  • reachstackers

  • empty container handlers

This depth of experience means every assessment is grounded in real‑world expectations. Mike recognises the difference between textbook technique and what actually happens in busy, high‑pressure environments — and he assesses operators accordingly. The result is fair, consistent, and meaningful evaluations that genuinely reflect workplace competence.

Professional Qualifications

Mike’s qualifications combine regulated training expertise with formal assessment credentials, ensuring every evaluation is consistent, fair, and aligned with industry standards. His background blends technical knowledge with a strong understanding of workplace behaviours, risk, and operator development.

His professional credentials include:

These qualifications underpin LiftEdge’s assessment‑led approach, ensuring operators are evaluated not just on what they know, but on how they perform in real working conditions.
