Where does LiftEdge deliver training?
We deliver all training directly on-site at your premises or operational facility across Felixstowe, Ipswich, and surrounding regions. Training on your own site ensures operators learn within their actual operating conditions, layout, and workplace traffic routes.
Do you train on our own equipment?
Yes. Conducting training on your own machinery ensures your operators understand the specific controls, attachments, maintenance checks, and handling characteristics of the exact plant and materials handling equipment they use daily.
What is the difference between refresher and conversion training?
Refresher courses evaluate and update existing operators to maintain safety standards and eliminate bad habits. Conversion training enables certified operators to safely transfer their operational skills to a different truck type, category, or handling attachment.
How do competence assessments work?
Competence assessments provide defensible, third-party evaluations of your drivers in real working conditions. Led by a Level 3 qualified assessor, these assessments verify practical skills, safety compliance, and procedural discipline beyond mere attendance.
Is LiftEdge training RTITB accredited?
Our founder and lead trainer, Mike Crisp, is an RTITB Registered Instructor and qualified assessor with over 30 years of operational experience. LiftEdge delivers in-house, site-specific training tailored to your operations and aligned with HSE guidance, including ACOP L117. Courses should only be described as RTITB accredited where they are delivered through an approved accredited route.
What certification will operators receive?
Upon successful completion of theoretical and practical testing, candidates receive a LiftEdge certificate of training and competence assessment report detailing the equipment category, load handling types, and date of completion.
Does a training certificate automatically permit an employee to operate on-site?
No. Under UK health and safety regulations (ACOP L117), formal training certification is step one. The employer must issue a written Authorisation to Operate confirming the individual is permitted to operate specific machinery on that particular site.
How often should operators complete refresher training?
There is no fixed legal refresher interval. Many employers use a 3 to 5 year cycle, depending on risk, equipment type and workplace conditions. Refresher training may also be needed after an incident, near miss, unsafe practice, new equipment or a long period away from operating.
